ZhenAn China High carbon silicon (also known as silicon carbon alloy or SiC) is an alloy composed of silicon and carbon with carbon content typically ranging from 2% to 30% by weight. It is usually produced by smelting quartz and coke in a submerged arc furnace, with the silicon and carbon combining to form the alloy.
ZhenAn China High carbon silicon has several industrial applications, including as a reducing agent in the production of low-carbon alloys, as a deoxidizer in steelmaking, and as an inoculant in the production of cast iron. It is also used in the production of silicon-based materials, such as silicon nitride and silicon carbide, which have high mechanical strength and wear resistance.
